British Steel / Cap Gemini

Our 1st contract in 1996 (extended a until Aug 1998) was to supply an Analyst/Programmer to assist British Steel Plates division (Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire) to build a new test sampling solution into their production management system. Also to help with analysis for a replacement Metallurgical Laboratories database system.

Our Systems Analyst / Programmer (Duncan Cheshire) was able to use the experienced gained as a CSP/DB2 Analyst programmer for Cooperative Insurance Society and his previous experience of working in the IT department for United Engineering Steels to help land this 1st contract.  His degree in Physiscs/Chemistry and knowledge of Materials Science certainly helped with the Metalurgical Testing Requirements of these projects for British Steel.

British Steels IT department was outsourced to Cap Gemini during the time of this contract. British Steel has subsequently been sold to Corus and more resently TATA Steel Europe.
